Discrete and confidential coaching can give people the opportunity to identify ways of improving their understanding and applying their knowledge with confidence. I have many years successful experience (as a university Head of Learning Development) of working one-to-one with students and staff to help them achieve their goals relating to mathematical and statistical skills.
In many cases it is senior professional or management staff who realise that they need to develop their statistical skills in order to be able to lead their teams more effectively. Equally, more junior employees who are looking to prepare for interview or aptitude tests can benefit from personal coaching in numerical skills and data literacy. In any case, clients can be assured of professional discretion and a relaxed and supportive approach.
Individuals may self-refer for coaching at any time, or I am happy to work with organisations' HR departments to put together a coaching package for staff who have been identified as requiring independent and impartial support.
Examples of clients for individual coaching:
a newly promoted school teacher who needs to take charge of pupil performance data, but is unsure how to interpret the figures.
a young professional considering a career change who needs to prepare for the numerical reasoning tests of potential new employers.
an office administrator who is required to produce data summaries, tables and graphs for management reports.
a laboratory manager who is unsure about the statistical techniques being used in recently published journal articles.
a local politician who feels overwhelmed by the facts and figures in the papers accompanying meeting agendas.
Do feel free to contact me for an informal and confidential chat about how we can work together.
(Sorry, I do not give private tuition to school children.)
